 Day 1

  • Arrival, meeting at the airport
  • Transfer to Yerevan
  • City tour around Yerevan – the ancient capital of Armenia
  • Transfer to the Ararat Valley
  • Visit to the monastery of Khor Virap
  • Transfer to the village Chiva or Areni depending on the season
  • Accommodation in a cottage

Days 2-3

  • Breakfast
  • Climbing training in the gorge of Hell Canyon for a full day (working with a rope, climbing history, learning the technique of climbing)

Day 4 – rest day

  • Hiking tour to the medieval fortress of Smbataberd
  • Excursion to Noravank Monastery located in a beautiful valley of red rocks

  • Wine tasting in the village of Areni
  • Returning to the village

  • Overnight in a cottage

  • Climbing training in the gorge Amaghu for a full day

Day 7

  • Visit to Lake Sevan and monastery Hayravank

The following basic checklist should help you with your packing for any of our trips. Please, remember that you should always try to keep the weight of your clothing equipment down to a minimum. Your packed trek bag should weigh no more than 15 kilograms (33 pounds.) Please, remember this is just a checklist and you do not necessarily need to bring everything that is listed below. Use your own experience and judgment to make your decision.
  • Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket
  • Waterproof shell jacket (preferably breathable fabric)
  • Lightweight thermal gloves
  • Underwear
  • Lightweight cotton long trousers/pants
  • Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms
  • Sun hat or scarf
  • T-shirts (2)
  • Thin, lightweight (inner socks)
  • Sunglasses with UV protection
  • Head lamp (eg Petzl) spare bulbs & batteries
