Hrazdan town is located at a distance of 50 km from the capital on the left bank of the river Hrazdan and is the administrative center of Kotayk region. It is a small town with the population of about 53 000 people.
The climate here is sharply continental with mild and rainy summer and cold snowy winter. Hrazdan is the most rainy town of Armenia.
The town is surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges, and the streets are lined with multistory buildings which are interspersed with magnificent pine trees and colorful apple trees.
There are few attractions interesting for tourists here. The town itself is known as a major industrial and energy center of the country. The thing is that here operates the most powerful CHP in Armenia, a cement factory, plastic products and machine-building enterprises.
Among sights, we should note Makravank monastery of the 13th century, located in the southern part of the city.
