Aparan Reservoir

The Aparan Reservoir is located in the upper part of the Kasakh River, in the Aragatsotn region. The reservoir is considered the largest artificial one in Armenia, covers an area of 7.9 sq km. A strong dam with 50 m height and 210 meters length can withstand the strongest water pressure during floods.

In the spring months, the waters of the Kasakh River get stormy, and the reservoir is filled. In the summer, water from the Aparan reservoir is used for irrigation.

After the reconstruction of the reservoir, a new drainage channel appeared for extra safety. In addition to its main purpose, the Aparan Reservoir is considered a popular tourist attraction for fishing and recreation.
