Day 0

Arrival in Zvartnots international airport, transfer to Yerevan.

Day 1

Yerevan – Echmiadzin – Sardarapat – Ervandashat – Ani Pemza – Gyumri

The day will start with a city tour around Yerevan – the capital of Armenia. Aleksander Tamanyan – the general architect of Yerevan – drew  the contemporary plan of this marvelous city. The way will continue to Echmiadzin – the Holy Town for all Armenians around the world. Here is located the residence of Catholicos, Supreme Patriarch of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Our next stop is Sardarapat memorial. This complex was constructed to remind about the victory that Armenians achieved during the battle of Sardarapat. Another destination is Yervandashat village. That is an ancient place which was destroyed by the army of Persian king Shapur. Nowadays on this territory, you will see the ruins of many different structures and walls of ancient times. Anipemza is located on Armenian-Turkishh border and it is famous for the ruins of Yereruyk Basilica.
Your last destination point will be the second largest city of Armenia, Gyumri.

Day 2

Gyumri – Bavra – Vardzia – Borjomi

The day will start with a trip to Armenian – Georgian border, after passing the customs of Bavra village your trip will continue to the cave town of Vardzia. The excavations have shown that this area was settled since Bronze Age. The tour will continue to Borjomi, which is famous for its mineral springs. This town is also famous for its ecologically-themed amusement parks. You will have an overnight in Borjomi.

 The length of the route – 240 km (180 km good asphalt, 40 km bad asphalt, 20 km dirty road)

Day 3

Borjomi – Kutaisi – Tskhaltubo – Prometheus Cave – Gelati Monastery – Kutaisi

This day you will drive to Kutaisi that is the second-largest city after the capital of Georgia -Tbilisi. Kutaisi is located along the banks of Rioni River. The ride will continue uphill to Tskhaltubo resort town and stunning Prometheus Cave. You will walk 1, 5 kilometers in the cave and enjoy breathtaking view of stalactites and stalagmites. Another beautiful tourist destination which you will visit that day is Gelati Monastery, which is a masterpiece of Georgian Golden Age. This monastery was founded in 1106 by King David IV of Georgia. Also, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In the evening you will return to Kutaisi.

Day 4

Kutaisi – Gori (Stalin Museum) – Uplistsikhe Cave Town – Mtskheta – Jvari – Tbilisi

In the morning you will continue your trip to Gori. This town is the birthplace of Joseph Vissarionovich Jughashvili, better known as Joseph Stalin, you will visit the house- museum of Joseph Stalin which was founded in 1957. The museum provides interesting facts of Stalin’s life, you will see the room he was born in, as well as his personal train. The trip will continue to Uplistsikhe Cave Town where you will feel like in the 14th century. The town has been untouched since that time. The next destination is Mtskheta – an ancient capital of the Georgian Kingdom. Here you will have excursions to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral  and Jvari Monastery located on the hilltop. From the hilltop opens  a beautiful view on the confluence of two rivers Kura and Aragvi. The ride will continue to Tbilisi for a rest and overnight.

Day 5

Tbilisi – Jinvali water reservoir – Ananuri Fortress – Stepantsminda – Holy Trinity church – Gudauri

This day you will start your trip from Tbilisi and drive to Jinvali water reservoir – an azure lake surrounded by mountains. You will visit Ananuri Fortress listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  And then the trip will continue by Georgian Military Highway to the beautiful town of Stepantsminda .  On the way, you will stop every few kilometers to enjoy the most breathtaking and marvelous views of this trip. Then you will ride uphill by off road to Holy Trinity Church. In the clear days, you can enjoy view of majestic Kazbek Mountain which is the highest peak in the Lesser Caucasus mountain chain. After visiting the church you will continue to Gudauri ski resort.  Vast mountains without a single tree surrounding Gudauri make this place truly evocated, where you will enjoy night very far from everyday hustle.

Day 6

Gudauri – Tbilisi (city tour around Tbilisi)

After breakfast and fresh coffee, you will ride down to Tbilisi – the bustling city of Georgia. The mixture of colored houses, wooden carved balconies, churches rising in every corner gives a special charm to this city. You will take a cable car to the holly hill peak from where opens an amazing view to the whole city. In the evening those who wish will have an opportunity to stroll in the green parks of Tbilisi along banks of Kura River.

Day 7

Tbilisi – Signagi – Tbilisi

This day you will travel to Kakheti Region, which is well-known as a wine-making center of Georgia. There will be an excursion to Bodbe Monastery in Signagi -“the town of love”.  Signagi is also known for its wines and here you will have a chance to taste Georgian wines in one of the local wineries (optional). You will have a pleasant walk along the pebbled narrow streets of this small cozy town built in the style of south Italian classicism. In the evening you will return to Tbilisi.

Day 8

Tbilisi – Alaverdi – Sanahin – Haghpat

The day will start with a ride to Georgian-Armenian border.  After passing the border you will drive to Lori Region which is rich with natural and architectural wonders. First, you will see Haghpat Monastery complex and Sanahin Medieval University, which are both listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. They are both outstanding masterpiece examples of Armenian medieval architecture. In the evening, you will enjoy beautiful landscapes from the balcony of your hotel in Haghpat village.

The length of the route – 125 km (75km good asphalt, 50 km normal asphalt)

Day 9

Haghpat – Odzun – Vanadzor – Dilijan – Goshavank – Haghartsin

After breakfast in Haghpat, you will drive to Odzun – historic village in Armenia. The legend says that in the 1st century AD the Apostle Thomas, who was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, came to Odzun to ordain priests and bishops. Then you will ride to the Tavoush region full of green forested hills and mountains. On your way, you will have a chance to buy marinades from molocans (small Russian community). The way continues to the town of Dilijan where you will ride uphill to the Goshavank Monastery. Here are located impressive khachkars (cross-stones), the most spectacular of which is made by the architect Momik .

Day 10

Dilijan – Sevan – Hayravank – Berdkunk – Selim Caravanserai – Hermon

The tour will start with a ride to  Lake Sevan, the “blue pearl of Armenia” and one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. The stunning hilltop view of the azure lake framed by the surrounding mountains will amaze and inspire its visitors. Here you will have an excursion to Sevanavank Monastery of the 9th century. The ride will continue along the shores of Lake Sevan to Hayravank Monastery. The next stop – Cyclopean Berdkunk Fortress and megalithic tombs. Then you will ride through a section of the Great Silk Road towards the Selim Pass. Here is located the 14th century Selim Caravanserai which is one of the most well-preserved hostels along the ancient Great Silk Road. You will stay in a hotel in Hermon.

Day 11

Hermon – Karmrashen – Herher – Jermuk

The day will start with a ride to Karmrashen village located in Vayots Dzor region. Next, you will continue your journey to Herher Village hidden in the mountains and then  to Jermuk resort town. Here you will have a chance to taste healing mineral waters of different temperatures. In the evening, those who wish can walk to the Arpa River Gorge and the beautiful Jermuk Waterfall.

Day 12

Jermuk – Tatev – Devil’s Bridge – Goris – Khndzoresk – Goris

In the morning after breakfast, you will enter Syunik Province and visit Tatev Monastery – the pearl of Armenian medieval architecture.  Here, anyone who wishes can take the longest aerial tramway in the world, which extends over the gorge Vorotan (depth – 320 meters). Your trip will continue to Goris – the town of red roofs and green gardens. The last trip destination is the cave town of  Khndzoresk – where you will see an amazing 160 meters long cable bridge. Then you will return to Goris for an overnight.

The length of the route – 161km (20 km normal asphalt, 125 km moderate asphalt 6 km ground)

Day 13

Goris – Yeghegnadzor – Lanjar – Vedi – Yerevan

In the morning, you will head to Yeghegnadzor, the center of Vayots Dzor Province. You will visit the Bird’s Cave where the archaeologists have found the oldest shoe and the oldest winery in the world. The ride will continue to Ararat Valley by a narrow twisting road far from villages and towns. At the end of the day, you will ride to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, for a rest and overnight.

Day 14

Yerevan – Geghard – Garni Temple – Yerevan

After a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, the fourth day’s tour involves a ride to the scenic canyon of the River Azat. The 7th century Geghard Cave Monastery is located deep at the bottom of the canyon and is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The tour will be continued by bus to Garni village, where the Hellenistic-inspired Garni temple is located. Lunch will be served in the courtyard of a local hospitable family in Garni village and will consist of local traditional dishes. Then you will take a ride back to Yerevan. You will enjoy Yerevan’s vibrant nightlife with an abundance of outdoor cafés filled with sounds of live music.
