ITINERARY

Introduction

One of the great methods of relaxation is walking, especially when you are walking on the paths of mountainous areas, lush forests and natural monuments. Our walking tour to Armenia will give you that opportunity. The tour is a great offer for those who are fond of walking. Breathing fresh mountainous air, enjoying every step of your trail and experiencing local hospitality is a simple delight! In the Walking Tour to Armenia we included mesmerizing routes trough the historical sites of Armenia which are still intact and are worth visiting.

Day 1 - Arrival - Yerevan City Tour - Garni - Geghard

Day 2 - Amaghu - Noravank - Yeghegnadzor

Day 3 - Vernashen - Spitakavor - Goris

Khndzoresk - Tatev - Selim Pass
After having breakfast at the hotel you will head to Vernashen village from where your hiking starts to Spitakavor Monastery. It is a 14-century Armenian Monastic Complex near the town of Yeghegnadzor. The hiking route is not one of the hardest one, you will reach the monastery by following the dirt road. The name Spitakavor means white in English and comes from the white polished felsite stone which it was built of. The monastery is also home to the grave of the Armenian military leader, political thinker Garegin Nzhdeh. On the way back you might have a chance to see the endemic Armenian Bezoar goats. The day will end with an overnight in Goris.

TRIP REVIEWS (10)

Francesca and Alexander

Overall we had a great holiday. We thought it was well organised. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
Best bits:
Hikes were very good - not too difficult but made us work.
Monasteries were great and well worth visiting. They all had different characters.
Good recommendations for restaurants by guide.
Overall food and wine very good.
Restaurant near Ijevan highly recommended- found by Guide, Sevan lake and Dilijan (papanino). A recommended list of restaurants however would have been really helpful in some places (Guide did make suggestions - but we ended up at a food court one night simply because we didn’t know where else to go and not everyone used Tripadvisor to rate out of the way places)
Museum in Yerevan was a must see.
Most of hotels/b&b’s good. Best were the b&b Goris, Iris and Armenia.

Worst bits
Lucy Tour. Restaurant was terrible - food not warm and Soviet canteen style. Odd as the place itself and room was quite nice.
Kamar guesthouse was a building site. The hosts were very friendly, and breakfast nice, but we wondered why we didn’t stay in the lovely b&b Armenia an extra night, especially as we drove past it the next morning.
Minotel Barsam was not great. The bed was rock hard and the lights stopped working. We thought this was was to be expected of a city centre hotel until we got to Hotel Apricot at end of holiday and that was much much nicer. We’d have happily have paid extra for a nicer hotel.
It was very hot for hiking which might be a problem for some people. We loved the forest walks which were cooler so maybe some thought in adding extra time there in hot temperatures rather than hiking in the south - and instead just see sights around Goris to make up time.

Recommended
We enjoyed the singers at Geghard and wondered if some live Armenia music could be recommended in an evening

Hi Mrs. Sati jan!!!!! I'm so sorry coz I really wanted to meet you again to thank you personally. The tour was great and we had a lot of fun. The guide (Ashot) is a very nice person and helped us to get more activities all the time. Anyway I was sure of it, during all the time we scheduled the whole trip together I already noticed you're doing a great job. And so it was. Look, in the next years (now I can't say wether it'll be exactly next year or not) I'd like to spend some time in Georgia. Now, (it's a promise) as soon as I'm sure to get an holiday over there I'll contact you and we'll schedule the journey together just like we did now for Armenia.

And this time I'll not forget the chocolate

Thanks one more time for all that you've done for me. It was a great pleasure to have to deal with such a nice girl like you are.

I wish you all the best and please be well until we meet again.

Bye
