Day 1-Arrival - City Tour

After your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Yerevan and checked in. You will start your trip with a city tour around the ancient capital of Armenia. According to the cuneiform inscription of Urartian King Argishti Yerevan was built in 782 BC. Some decades ago Alexander Tamanyan, the general architect of Yerevan draw the contemporary masterplan of the city which we can see today. The warm smiles of its inhabitants give a unique charm to this eternal city ancient and so young at the same time. One of the stops will be in Matenadaran Museum, which houses over 17,000 ancient and medieval manuscripts, making it the significant bearer of one of the largest collections in the world. Next, you will visit the Blue Mosque built in 1764-1768 by Husayn Ali Khan. The tour will end with the visit to the Armenian Genocide memorial complex dedicated to the victims of Genocide executed in 1915.

Day 2-Geghard - Garni

This day you will drive to the scenic canyon of the Azat River. The 7th-century Geghard Cave Monastery is located deep at the bottom of the canyon and is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The monastery complex is carved from the adjacent mountain as well as partially built from the local basalt stones. The tour will continue to Garni village, where is located Garni temple known for its unique architecture in Hellenistic style. Garni’s complex also consists of a royal bath which exhibits a fascinating hypocaust along with a well-preserved original mosaic tiling.

Day 3-Khor Virap - Noravank - Goris

After breakfast, you will head to the south of Armenia to KhorVirap Monastery, a historic site located amidst the Ararat Valley. The monastery was built on the place of the royal prison in Artashat. Here in royal prison, Gregory the Illuminator suffered for 13 years for preaching Christianity in Armenia in the 3rd century. Nowhere else in Armenia you will see such an amazing view of the Biblical Ararat. You will continue through a narrow canyon to the valley of red rocks to Noravank Monastery. The overnight will be in Goris – a small town surrounded by beautiful cliffs and wooded hills.

Day 4-Tatev - Jermuk

After breakfast, you will head to Tatev medieval monastery and university – the gem of Armenian medieval architecture located on the edge of the canyon. You will reach the monastery by the cable car which is the longest in the world and has the height of 320 m over deep Canyon of Vorotan River. The tour will continue to Jermuk – the resort town known for its healing mineral waters. In the town, you will visit the Water Gallery where one can try healing waters of different temperatures. You won’t miss the popular natural sight of Jermuk – Jermuk Waterfall – second largest waterfall of Armenia.

Day 5-Selim Caravansary - Sevan - Dilijan

This day you will head to Lake Sevan, the “blue pearl of Armenia” and one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world located at about 1900 meters above sea level. The trip will continue to Dilijan, a lush town known as a spa resort. A stroll in the historical district will let you experience the atmosphere of the old town as it was in the 19th century. The imaginatively carved balconies so typical for the 19th century Dilijan display the region’s historical love for fine woodwork.

Day 6-Vanadzor - Aragats - Saghmosavank - Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel, you will head to Vanadzor town – the third largest city in Armenia and the administrative center of Lori region. The way will continue uphill to the Amberd fortress proudly standing on the foot of Mount Aragats which is the highest mountain in modern Armenia. Your next stop will be at the monument of Armenian Alphabet which was founded in 2005 to celebrate the 1600th anniversary of the alphabet foundation. This day you will also visit Saghmosavank Monastery located atop the yawning gorge carved by the Kasakh River. Amazing view of the canyon will open in front of you once you reach the monastery. In the evening you will be back to your hotel in Yerevan.
