Monument of Mikael Nalbandyan

Mikael Nalbandyan was a writer, utopian socialist, philosopher and revolutionary democrat. Nalbandian was the first of Armenian writers who fell under the influence of propaganda and took the side of revolutionary democracy. A few years later he created a secret revolutionary society, where he made friends with other revolutionaries. A few years later, Michael Nalbandian was arrested and imprisoned. After the transfer to Kamyshin, the writer died of tuberculosis.

Mikael Nalbandyan was an exceptionally educated person: he was interested in philosophy as well as in linguistics and pedagogy. In Armenian literature, Nalbandian became the founder of critical realism.

The monument to Mikael Nalbandyan is located on Nalbandyan Street, in the Ring Park. The sculptor of the monument is Nikoghosyan, the architect is Jim Torosyan.
