Composer Armen Tigranyan is one of the greatest figures in the history of Armenia. He is the author of the first Armenian opera “Anush” based on the poem by Hovhannes Tumanyan. During his life Armen Tigranyan wrote several symphonies, music for performances, as well as worked on Armenian folk music. The composer received the award as Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR and Honored Artist of the Georgian SSR.
The monument to Armen Tigranyan is located in Ring Park. The authors of the monument were the architect F. Darbinyan and the sculptor A. Hovsepyan.
