Mobile Connection in Georgia

There won’t be any problems with mobile connection in Georgia as well: the country offers high-quality connection and internet on favorable terms. In Georgia, mobile numbers start with the index “5”. There are 3 mobile operators in the country: Beeline, GeoCell, MagtiCom.

The tariffs are not expensive here: the local calls are quite affordable, there are also good offers for international calls. Thus for tourists, it is more profitable to use the service of local mobile operators rather than make calls via roaming.

You can get a SIM card at the airports, stations, as well as at offices of mobile providers. You can get the card at the airports and hotels for free, but they are empty and need to be activated and filled.

Below we will share useful information about each mobile operator in the country:

Beeline

At the moment Beeline company provides 1,3 million its clients with 2G GSM 900/1800MHz, 3G 2100 MHz and 4G 800/1800 MHz wireless service. It is a very demanded provider among tourists. However, it is important to note that if you plan to go to the remote corners of the country the mobile connection there may slow down. Beeline numbers start with the following indexes: 568, 571, 574, 579, 592, 597.

The operator offers rather cheap tariffs. For local calls, you can choose one of Kvelaperi Max tariffs. Kvelaperi Max can be activated for 30 days, for activation use *150*11#, and to check the balance *155#.

For profitable international calls, there is an “International” tariff.

Read more about how to activate tariffs on the official website. Services can also be activated via the mobile app.

Note that Beeline also offers eSIM electronic cards that perform the same functions as standard cards, and costs 5 GEL. Further detailed information could be read here.

To top up Beeline balance via terminals, as well as online and application.

Geocell has about 9 tariffs, and it will be difficult to understand them and choose the most suitable one on your own, so it is better to consult at service centers.

The company has a good offer for tourists – the “All-inclusive” package which can be activated with *013*1# OK combination. The package costs 20 lari and is valid for 15 days. After the activation, you get unlimited minutes for local calls, 30 minutes for international calls, and 3 Gb mobile internet.

Magti is a direct competitor to Geocell as they have similar characteristics. Magti offers good coverage of 2G/3G/4G/4.5 networks all over Georgia as well as the Internet that is not inferior to Geocell’s.

The company has a number of different tariff plans, but we suggest not to bother and choose one of the travel packages “Welcome to Georgia!”. A SIM card can be obtained for free right at the airport, after which it will be possible to activate one of the WELCOME packages: for 15 GEL (~ 5 $) you get 5 GB Internet and free SMS/MMS within the country (activation: 3315 OK), for 30 GEL (~ $ 10) - 3 GB Internet, free SMS/MMS /calls within the country and 30 international minutes (activation: 2230 OK).
