Guide in Kazakhstan

A passionate adventurer and storyteller

Favorite site in Kazakhstan

Two of Timur's favorite natural sites are Kolsay Lake and Kaindy Lake, located in the beautiful mountains of southeastern Kazakhstan. These lakes are known for their breathtaking scenery, clear blue waters, and peaceful surroundings. Kolsay Lakes are actually a series of three alpine lakes nestled in the Tian Shan Mountains. Surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks, they offer perfect spots for hiking, camping, and relaxing in nature. The lakes are often called the “Pearls of the Northern Tien Shan” because of their beauty.

Why guide?

Timur chose to become a guide because he loves adventure and exploring new places. Nature, history, and culture have always fascinated him, and being a guide allows him to share that passion with others. Timur enjoys meeting people from different countries, telling stories about beautiful sites, and helping travelers discover hidden gems. Every day is different — one day he might be hiking through the mountains, and the next showing a historic city. It’s exciting, active, and meaningful for him. Being a guide means living a life full of discovery, and Timur can’t imagine doing anything else.

Hello Hayku,

I hope all is well with you. The trip to the 5 Stans was really great! As it was my second booking with Arara after the Caucasus trip I had no doubt you will take care of us and arrange a wonderful experience.

I am really grateful for your efforts. The trip met our expectations and we are super happy we visited this part of the world. I wish we could spend more time in Khiva, it was a very lovely town.

The dinner at Darvaza crater and the sunset were fantastic, we loved this part of the tour.

Theresa and I loved Samarkand. The guides were all good, though I would highlight Serdar in Turkmenistan and Maria in Kyrgyzstan. They were super caring and knowledgeable. Our fellow travelers were all great, we spent a fantastic time with them. I like that your groups are small, it makes us feel comfortable and makes the communication between the participants and guides easy.

Thank you again for the wonderful trip.

Best wishes to you and Arara

Daniel and Theresa Kenneth

Hi Hayku,

Just wanted to say thanks for an amazing trip! Every detail was thought through — from the airport pickups to the packed lunches on long drive days. The hotels you chose for us were great.

The trip was intense but balanced, and I loved the mix of cultural immersion and nature.

As we are physically fit, the trip perfectly matched our age.

Looking forward to joining one of your Caucasus tours next year :)

Kind regards,
Susan Oliver

Dear Inga and Arara Team,

We’re back from our 19-day adventure and already missing it! The variety of experiences – from city tours in Tashkent and Ashgabat to the natural beauty of Issyk Kul and Darvaza – was exactly what we were looking for.

We did not experience any inconvenience through the tour, it was well planned and the guides were brilliant! There was a small issue with our hotel room in Samarkand (it wasn’t ready when we arrived), but our coordinator Ani sorted it out within 15 minutes and even arranged complimentary tea for us while we waited. The local guide Bobur in Bukhara was especially fantastic – he brought history to life.

Thanks for making our trip smooth and memorable!

All the best,
Jan and Marlies
